La Commission communautaire flamande à Bruxelles a décidé de libérer 818.050 euros pour alléger les frais scolaires des familles vulnérables sur la prochaine année scolaire. Le ministre bruxellois Sven Gatz (Open VLD), qui siège dans cette institution, l’a annoncé jeudi dans un communiqué.
La pauvreté infantile reste un défi majeur à Bruxelles, où un enfant sur cinq grandit dans la pauvreté. Les parents en difficulté financière font trop souvent face à des barrières économiques qui entravent l’accès égal à l’éducation, selon le ministre.
170 écoles néerlandophones à Bruxelles pourront donc compter sur un subside pour couvrir notamment des dépenses telles que les manuels scolaires, le matériel pédagogique, les sorties, la garderie, la natation scolaire, les repas et les produits menstruels. “Ainsi, davantage d’élèves ont la possibilité de participer pleinement à la vie scolaire, quelle que soit leur situation financière à la maison”, d’après le communiqué.
En plus du soutien financier, un accompagnement est proposé aux écoles souhaitant mettre en place une politique consciente de lutte contre la pauvreté et les coûts.
